Principal’s Message


Dear Appleton~Milan Elementary Families,


Welcome back to another great year of learning!  Here are a few reminders as the school year begins.:


The first day of school is Monday, August 27th.


Breakfast will be available from 7:50-8:15 AM in the school cafeteria.  Breakfast is free for all students in grades K-4.


School arrival should be no earlier than 7:45 AM and no later than 8:15 AM.  At 7:50, students will put their belongings in their lockers and go directly to the cafeteria for breakfast.  


In order to keep our students safe, here are a few reminders:

  • The drop-off zone will continue to be the south side of the school building.  The purpose of dropping off here is to provide an area where parents can quickly and efficiently drop off their child for school.  Please do not park your vehicle in this area. Please be sure your child enters the building safely after leaving your vehicle.

  • Parents who prefer to walk their child into the school building should park their vehicles in the parking lot.  Please do not park in the drop-off zone.

  • Parents who would like to pick up their child at the end of the school day should park in the lot and wait for their child in the school entryway.  Please do not arrive earlier than 3:05 PM.

Welcome to Appleton-Milan Elementary School, home of the Eagles!  Students at Appleton-Milan (A-M) are surrounded by teachers and staff who are dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming environment in which students are motivated to feel responsible for their own academic and personal achievements. As always, all staff continually put students first in everything we do and in the decisions and connections we make.  Our goal is success for today, success for tomorrow, success for life!

At A-M, educational experiences are designed to challenge and meet the academic, physical, social, and emotional needs of each student.  Character education is a key component where we “Promote the Positive”.  Our SOAR Initiative this school year has enabled us to promote and ensure an environment where students and staff are Safe, On Task, demonstrate a positive Attitude, and Respect each other, ourselves, and our building.  Academic, athletic, technological, and fine art opportunities are a part of our curriculum.  Each student is recognized as a unique individual and is taught to work with, and appreciate, the uniqueness and diversity of others.  A-M students are also made to feel they are integral members of our school family.  

The students and staff will work hard this year, but have fun while doing so.  Our classrooms are engaging, hands-on, and full of an excitement for learning.  Parents/guardians are an integral piece to our students’ successes and are invited into our building.  A strong partnership between home and school can only enhance all of the learning happening in our building.  Research shows that children of parents/guardians who are involved in their child’s school community do better in school.  

Throughout the year, our teachers and staff will make every effort to keep you informed of your child’s progress.  Communication is a key to success.  Please contact me if you ever have questions, comments, or concerns.
